All breeds of dogs encounter health issues. Please
be careful not to assume that finding and discussing health issues in any breed means that the breed is not a healthy
one. Rather, know that breeders and owners openly discussing health issues can only bring about an improvement in the
breed's overall health. Working together as partners, we *can* make a difference.

The
First AWS Health Project
AWS Partners started "The Keoni Project - Epilepsy in the AWS"
as the first health study for American Water Spaniels. This was done with the support of the Canine Health
Foundation and the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine.
