Don't take my word that rats make great pets. Visit the following sites and learn about our furry rodent friends for yourself! Of course, these aren't the only sites out there... just the ones I like best, and I intentionally keep the list small so as to keep up to date on dead links. Avail yourself of the links pages on these sites, however, and you'll be swimming in a veritable sea of rattiness online.
Rat and Mouse Club of America: A great starter spot for fanciers of rats and their smaller, but equally cute, cousins.
Rat Fan Club: Founded by one of America's leading rat experts, and full of great articles and advice (particularly about rat health care). The message boards are especially wonderful.
"Rats Make Good Pets, Not Just Science Projects" by Gina Spadafori: Wonderful article that's a primer for rat care for children.
Meet the Library Rats! Meet Melvin and Squeaker, two rats who belong to a librarian in Seymour, Wisconsin. My three ratboys give this site three noses up, and LOTS of bruxing!
Rats are People, Too: Full of whimsy and fun. Got Rats?
Why Rats are Good Friends to Have: From the RAPT site, a long read but absolutely adorable... warning, after reading this, you WILL want to go and find yourself a nice pair of rats...
OSED Rats: Meet Pippin's breeder, Olga.
Zen Rattery: Another breeder friend, specializing in lovely fawn ratties.
Kim's Ark Rat Rescue: Why not adopt your new best friend?
Wodent Wheels: The best in rodent exercise equipment... see image below! My boys LOVE their Wobust Wodent Wheel!
Oh, and I'm not above a bit of shameless self-promotion...
Here are my personal non-ratty pages!
