Health Assessment, Aceh Tamiang

Major Health Problems
Information was gathered from interview with health service center staff at the IDP camp. The immediate health problems reported were a lot of respiratory infections, gastrointestinal diseases and skin problems, but there were no data available at the health center and district health office. So far there were no cases of diarrhea yet, but it is not impossible that these cases will emerge. 95 (45.4%) of total 209 villages in 9 out of 12 sub districts reported as malaria endemic areas. Hospital There is one hospital not affected by flood. This hospital was not equipped by electricity from PLN (government electricity provider). Health Center Of the 10 PHC in the district, 8 were heavily and 1 was moderately damaged.
Medicine and Medical equipment The medicine and medical equipment at the health centers of Aceh Tamiang could not be used because the warehouse is fully damaged by flood. All the medicines are damaged and therefore cannot be used. There is no medical equipment currently available at the district health office. Donations of medicine have come from Provincial Health Office and DHO of Langsa but they still need more, particularly for broad spectrum antibiotics, infusion fluids, oral rehydration salts, antipyretic and antimalarial drugs as well as . Cold Chain Cold chain facility at one PHC was moderately damaged and should be repaired and rechecked.
