~HowdY~Welcome to the best place to play the game of Texas42 online with other players on the web. It's the only place that you can also play Dominoes and Shoot-the-Moon or Moon as it is usually called.
The Game Site we play at is at CCdominoes.com. The games are the best software versions of these three games found anywhere on the net and are avaiable as free versions with free updates. They offer rich true to life graphics and can be configured to just about any rules settings you prefer to play. The trial versions continue to work well after the free trial period is up. You do loose some of the features that are avaialble with the full versions, but they still work and updates to the games are free even with the trial versions
The games can be played offline and have setings that are ideal for teaching new players using the computer because you can toggle the games to show all hands if playing offline and because you may enable hints when playing online or offline.
When playing online and using a voicing service like LivVe.com Pager/Messenger or Yahoo Messenger/Pager, the gaming experience is just like being at the kitchen table playing heads up live and in person. At LivVe.com, you can play at the gamesite from within the chatrooms there. And, yes, you can even invite your friends to come play Dominoes, Moon, and 42 with you online instead of traveling across town or around the world. You don't just have to use the service to play other club members.
So whether to play some friendly games with people you already know, to meet some new Dominoes, Moon, and 42 friends, or to get a taste of what it's like playng competitively in a league, try the WinDominoes Suite which includes WinDominoes, WinMoon, and Win42.
Try the Texas42Club's website at: Texas42Club website It has help links for assistance with the game software and has information on how to get involved with league ladder-match play. There is a message at the Texas42Club Forum that should help you get started playing league-rated matches with your favorite opponents.
The gist of ladder-matches is this:
You challenge an opponent either by messenger, e-mail, or on a game table you are playing. You may play the match in any room at the Win42 game site, however, it is advisable to play them in the Ladder Room. You are more likely to get another challenge while playing. That way you can play several matches in a gaming session if you wish to. To challenge, just ask the players at the table if they want to play a ladder-match, decide amongst you what the table rules will be and how many games in the
match (customary is best of three, but can be single game or best of ever how many you all decide on), and upon completion of the match the vanquished report a loss to the victorious at the Texas42Club Ladder. In a 1vs1 matches, type 1vs1 in the comment box and in 2vs2 matches, both vanquished players report a loss to both victorious players. Reporting order of 2vs 2 matches is important. The lower ranked of the partnership reports the loss to both of the winners followed by the higher ranked reporting the loss to both winners as well.
You and your partner may play together for as many matches as you please. Neither of you may play any opponent a league-rated Ladder-Match more than once a day. 1vs1 and 2vs2 matches are allowed. 1vs2 on the Texas42 Ladder are not allowed. We would suggest you play 1vs2 matches on the Moon Ladder. Shoot-the-Moon is a three-handed game. There are Brother-in-Laws in Moon, but no partners. In Moon, both losers report to the winner on the Moon LadderLadder Rankings:
When you defeat a higher ranking opponent, you will gain in rank. The gain will be 50% of the difference in ranks. So, if you are ranked at #11 and defeat #3, your rank climbs (11-3)/2= 4 rungs. Your new rank will be #7. There is a Rank Calculator and a Skill-Level Calculator at all of the ladders to make it easy to determine your new rank or skill level should you prevail. You will have Leap-Frogged ranks #7 through #10.
When you are defeated by lower rank, your rank will not change save and except if you are playing the player ranked
immediately below you. Your win/loss stats and skill-rating are all that affected when you report losses to any lower ranking player save and except for the player just below your ranking.
Common Courtesy:
As in golf, we have rules of courtesy at the Texas42 Club's League-Ladders:
- You don't have to be happy with any loss, but please, don't be a sore loser.
- Don't harass players for game - the top players, especially #1, are challenged by everyone. A victory against them will leap you more rungs than any other opponent.
- By the same token, don't dodge the player ranked just below you in fact, they and players you have Leap-Frogged should get first priority when accepting challenges from lower ranking players
- The player with the highest rank at the table is who is being challenged and they have final say in table settings and number of games per match. If you find their table settings to be un-acceptable, you may withdraw your challenge but do so gracefully and tell them why. If you feel a ranking player has required too many games in a match and can not
negotiate for results, contact admin and we will step in and help. Admin will not
negotiate table rules for any match whatsoever. That is a privilege of rank.
- during ladder-matches, keep table chat down to a minimum. "GG, Nice Hand, etc" is acceptable. Comments about game play or even the weather ought to be saved for after the match, perhaps after the ladder-match while playing a friendly game just for blood would be a more appropriate time for that.
- No one is required to post reported matches in the Ladder-Room's chat board, but it is a classy thing to do and it makes it easy to see who the active players on the ladder are. Just highlight and copy the "Match Reported" comment displayed upon reporting a loss. It will have who was challenged and the outcome right there. Then paste it in the chat box in the ladder-room and hit enter
Finding a Ladder-Match:
It's a little more difficult to find ladder-match opponents now because we are starting from scratch. Challenge players you encounter in the Main Room at the Win42 game site. If they are interested but not in the league, help them sign up. It just takes a few minutes and then they may challenge you in their very first ladder-match.
Doing this adds to the number of
victims we all have a shot at. As the league grows, it gets to where all the activity at Win42 seems to be in the ladder-room and more newcomers to the site become ladder-players.
(We have done this before and know this to be a fact.)
By all means, tell all of your Dominoes, Moon, and 42 friends, about the CCdominoes.com web site and how much fun it is to play for fun and to compete in the leagues there. We all end up with having players here we
particularly love to beat. You ought not overlook the fact that there are some players that you already would like to beat more often and could if they played here too!
When at the 42 tables, exchange yahoo id's so that you may contact each other for game more easily when online. When all else fails you can e-mail players on the ladder for game.
The ladder-room chat box will usually have loss reports posted. Those players are active ladder-players and are good prospects for finding a rated-match.Most Importantly:
Have fun with this. Play ladder-matches as often as you can, but not every time you play does it always have to be a ladder-match. The fellowship is as important as the competition in our club. Keep it friendly. Other players in the league are your competition not the enemy. Behave in such a way that our GrandPa and GrandMa
would approve and be proud of.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
